History of Thornhill Woods Haunted House

Since October of 2004, The Thornhill Woods Haunted House has been providing the community with a good old fashion cemetery theme outdoor yard haunt that’s packed with elaborate monsters, zombies, animatronics, tombstones and a creepy walk through mausoleum.

We are aimed at making the neighborhood a more fun filled experience during the Halloween season. Our yard haunt is totally free of charge, but we ask everyone to donate to The Sick Kids Hospital.

Our 2010 Halloween attendance was down slightly over last year, probably due to the fact that Halloween fell on a Sunday night and all the kiddies had to get up early for school the next day and because the weather outside fell below 0 degrees Celsius / 32 degrees Fahrenheit.

The good news is that our donations were up directly attributed to my new creepy addition – The Mausoleum!  I originally targeted for $4,000 and we collected $4,781.87 for SickKids Foundation…my biggest year yet!

A big thank you goes out to generous sponsors; Cadbury and Old Dutch for the truckloads of Halloween Candy & Potato Chips that they donated.  Moreover, we would like to thank all our visitors who dropped by and donated to Sick Kids Foundation.

The money raised will go towards a Halloween fund that we've created for children who are in treatment at Sick Kids Hospital during Halloween; our goal is to provide children with costumes and Halloween candy to encourage the holiday spirit.

Lastly, a heart felt thank you goes out to our family and friends for all their help and support with the set up and tear down of our display, my zombie friends who help me with my 2010 home haunt video and the York Regional Police for showing up on Halloween night and controlling the flow of traffic after we brought it to a stand still on our street.
